There are many diseases that people do not know that much about. Streptococcus, or the “flesh eating” disease, is one of them. This disease can find many different kinds of hosts, for example, pigs, cows, horses, and humans. Some of the infections that are part of Streptococcus are strep throat, scarlet fever and others. It is made up of pathogenic and commensal gram-positive bacteria. Streptococci are made up of a peptidoglycan cell wall, they also contain muramic acid and glucosamine. Most everyone has streptococcal in their throat. It is harmless until it breaks through the layer of tissues in the throat. Although sometimes they can get into the bloodstream and cause infection.
