Dan Trocki 03/17/03 English 101 SUMMER JOB In the summer of 2002, I was faced with a sobering reality. I was forced to go to work. My parents wouldn’t have me just bumming around any more. They were tired of just giving me money every day. They said I didn’t know the value of a dollar, and they were right. I told my parents I would do anything except work. I tried to go to camp, summer school, or even leave the country. I just did not want to give in to start working. It is not easy for me to work because I get really bored, doing the same exact thing day after day. My ADHD kicks in, and I will just go insane. It is hard enough for me to sit through an hour of class at school. I knew I had to get a job that was interesting to me, or it was never going to last. Once I knew my parents were not going to let me go on the job issue, I started to look for a job. My first job was being a chair boy on the beach. It went well for the first couple days. I was in the sun, making around fifty dollars a day. There were a couple of down sides to my job that really irritated me. The first one was waking up every morning at six o ‘clock. I hated getting up every morning that early to set up the stand. The other thing that bothered me was the bugs. My legs would be all bitten up by the time I was finished work. Every night before going to bed, I had to put lotion on my legs so I wouldn’t itch to death.
