Hamlet
Hamlet In Shakespear’s Hamlet a good amount of the plot revolves around the other characters struggling to find whether Hamlet is mad, and, if so, what the cause of Hamlet’s madness is. As readers of the play, we know the cause of Hamlet’s behavior. Yet it seems that we like Hamlet no matter what his character decides to do. After all, even after he murders Polonius we still like Hamlet and hope for his success in avenging his father’s murder. No scene is as engaging as the second scene of Act III where we closely read to find out whether Claudius reaction to the play closely resembling real events will reveal to Hamlet proof of his uncle’s conspiracy. However, it is Hamlet’s conversation during the play with his Ophelia and after the Claudius’ with Guildenstern that reveal the most about Hamlet’s character. This character that we love to love expresses himself in a manner that makes the reader truly question his character and whether he is truly mad.
