Lovers and Other Strangers
Lovers and Other Strangers Lovers and Other Strangers was presented by Community College in the middle of March. The play was produced by Randolph and directed by M Lockwood, who is also an actor in the production. The play was about five love crazy comedies by Renee Taylor and Joseph Bologna. Men and women together is played out against a backdrop of a typical house setting with a living room, dining room, and, bedroom. The characters wear clothes reminiscent of sixties such as; Dark suit and snap-brimmed hat for the men, a slash of red lipstick, a red silky pajamas or some sort of sexy clothing for the women. In the production everybody smokes, stylishly. Lovers and Other Strangers was a hit with the audience. The story is essentially a series impending marriage and trouble relationships. As the audience enters the sixties style theater at the community college they hear light hearted, fun, jazzy music being played. The selection was picked out by Professor Randolph. The opening scene was “Brenda and Jerry”. It was Saturday night in the Spring they were first heard out side Jerry’s Apartments as he tells her “But were just going up to check the gas.” Jerry is in his late 20’s to early 30’s, he is an average guy, tall, dark, and slightly clumsy. Jerry was play by Earl he always tried to be smoothes but never quite cut it. Brenda Played by Meredith was in her early 20’s.
