Many people did not see the Great Depression coming, Including Politicians. All of them had been caught up in the long run of prosperity in the 1920s. Prime minister King thought that the stock market crash in October 1929 Prime Minster King would only be temporary for Canada’s economy. The fall of wheat prices at the time was more troubling for the country, but price swings were part of the business cycle and did not shock Canada’s leaders. The rising number of unemployed workers could also be explained as part of the business cycle during poor economic times.
