Chief Seattle makes a few harsh statements in his speech about the young people in his tribe. He says that youth is impulsive and that they are quick to jump on their horse and fight. He says this clearly talking about his own tribe and his own people, but are all young people this impetuous? Being a youth I do not believe this is always so, but perhaps I should take a good look at myself first. So, are all youths ready to “jump on their horse and fight”, as I said earlier? Well I know I’m not. It’s easy to compare Chief Seattle’s situation with our own going on now in Iraq, not the same in many aspects, but good enough to make a few simple comparisons.
