Realism in O. Henry O. Henry, originally named William Sydney Prter, was a distinguished American strywriter. He wrote more than 300 short atories in his life, and all of his stories were ingeniously conceived, with the enbdings always surprising. Though his stories end always surprisingly, yet not beyond reason. Critics believe that it was well reasoning.For his stories confirm well to life. Nevertheless, an American literary critic, Warner Berthoff, included the gifted O. Henry in a "category of pseudo-realists".
