The only time success will ever come before work is in the dictionary. Salvador Dali could be considered the greatest exception to this rule within the art World. Salvador Dali’s “Swans Reflecting Elephants,” is nothing less than a victory. It captures the viewer’s eye, moving it across the canvas and forcing the viewer to get involved. Dali’s use of the illusory technique, choice of color, and usage of light and dark contrast contributes to the success of this painting. Dali’s contribution of light and dark contrast does not go unnoticed. It generates specific detail that provides movement. The imperfection on the trees becomes the wrinkled, leathery skin of the elephants.
