Andy Warhol Andy Warhol was born as Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh Pennsylvani,a on August 6, 1928. Growing up Andy lived a drab youth, filled with hardship, illness, feelings of inferiority and a lack of glamour which he was sure to make up for later in life. After highschool Andy attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology in Pittsburgh. There he studied pictorial art and pushed the art to new limits. A professor of Warhol's recalls that Andy's work was always provocative and controversial. Though also voted least likely to succeed by other professors. After finishing his institute studies Andy was incouraged by professors to pursue an art career in New York City.
