The most gentle giants of the sea is the Manatee!Manatees nick name is "Mermaid",when the sailors would see the manatees they would call them "Mermaids."They would call them "Mermaids" because they are so graceful,beautiful,and their tail looks like a mermaid tail.Manatees are a producer.Manatees live in fresh and salt water,they are the only sea animal that can live in both.They mostly live in tropical waters like the Carribean.They also live in Florida and have been spotted in Brazil. Manatees are vegetarians,they only plants in the water but sometimes they eat little crabs,snails,and other small animals that cling to water grasses they eat.They have to eat six to eight hours a day to satisfy their enormous appetite.They consume ten to fifteen percent of their body weight--as much as one hundred pounds of plant food each day.Thats what manatees eat.
