If we want a safe environment to live in with the most security possible the death penalty is a necessity. People of our country should learn to take responsibility for their own actions. In the statement: “The obvious conclusion from looking at the statistics…is that capital punishment does deter murder.” shows the truth about how effective the death penalty is. The death penalty provides a sense of justice to the victim’s family and the community around them. The death penalty has proof that it is effective and provides America with a safer upbringing. After reading and looking into the graphs in the packet the facts were straight foreword and shows that, “Consistently when the number of executions goes down, the homicide rate goes up, and when the number of executions goes up, the homicide rate goes down.” The statistics show how successful the death penalty is in real life.
