Simply stated, Americans are stressed out workaholics! Sleep deprivation is actually a very common disorder among Americans and what’s even more amazing is that people who suffer chronic sleep deprivation or insomnia don’t even know it. As a matter of fact, according to the National Sleep Federation (NSF), about 60% of Americans don’t get enough or the 8 hours of sleep which is recommended by experts for good health. There can be many reasons for not getting enough sleep but the #1 reason for lack of sleep is stress. The National Sleep Foundation (NFS) says America’s sleep problems stern from increasingly hectic lifestyles (stress), career and financial pressures (stress), and decreased leisure time.
