Joseph Barnett (1858-1926) This is my favourite suspect candidate, the one I personally believe to be the famous Jack the Ripper. The facts speak for themselves; Joseph matches Jack the Ripper in many ways, in such a way that it is unbelievable. There is only one matter that disturbs me in the compatibility of the Ripper and Joseph Barnett. This will all come up in the following. Joseph grew up in a poor family, only a mile away from the Whitechapel district. His father was a fish porter, he died when Joseph was six years old. His mother deserted the family soon afterwards. Joseph grew up with his siblings and became a fish porter.
