When electing the President, the framers of the Constitution could have decided on doing it in several ways. They could've done it through direct popular vote, by using an Electoral College, or through other methods. They ended up rejecting the idea of electing the president through direct popular vote and used the Electoral College. In the Electoral College, each state has a certain amount of Electoral votes depending on their population. The candidate who wins the popular vote in each state wins all of that state's Electoral votes. The candidate who receives 270 Electoral votes or more wins the overall election. If no candidate receives the designated amount of votes, then Congress decides the election's outcome. After studying the facts about the Electoral College, I have concluded that it is a fair and effective way of electing the President. Electing the President through direct popular vote is not a good way of electing the president.
