decieving media
In the society that we live in media sources reflect the deeper modes of production that underlie society in many ways. Throughout history, there have always been tales of this. This deeper mode of production is as extreme as propaganda or nice and friendly like the morning newspaper. Everyone knows what a mode of production is, but they may not realize it. A mode of production is quite simply, a way of making things. In the past we have had feudalism, and communism, as well as what is currently in the times, Capitalism. In Feudalism it was quite simple. There was serfdom which was agriculture, and then there were guilds which were the “industries” sort of speak. There was also inside this industry, another smaller industry called cottage industries, where the businessman did everything his own way. Capitalism as we all know, is very simple, yet very complex. It is consider a superstructure. A superstructure in a sense, are systems and relations of production that grow out of the thesis (mode of production) that dominates an era. (Ex: a monolithic state or capitalism) The whole idea of the thesis and anti-thesis comes from Karl Marx’s “The Communist Manifesto”.
