Fisfights, shootout, car crashes, rapes...Take your pick. Violence is ubiquitous on television, sometimes gory and gruesome, other times antiseptic and remote. No matter which one you pick, there will be violence depicted in some form on this media and your children will be exposed, to be precise, to an average of 25 to 27 violent acts an hour. To speak true, a certain amount of violence is good for your children, to help them identify wrong kinds of behaviour and the pain involved in these acts. However, these acts must be put into a certain context. Although you cannot censor violence, there are measures you can take to protect your kids from the negative effects of the brutal acts they may witness in the media.
