Babe Ruth: The Legend Comes To Life Robert Creamer Babe Ruth was known for playing baseball, but he was much more than that. He played baseball for The Boston Red Sox early in his career and the New York Yankees later in his career. He had a very interesting personality, and this made him almost as many enemies as it did friends. Babe was a very rambunctious person. He grew up in Baltimore, and it is rumored that by the age of three he was already drinking and smoking. He spent most of his youth in St. Mary's School for Boy's, and he stayed there until he was eighteen years old.
