Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Ludwig van Beethoven is one of the most influential composers in the history of classical music. Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany in 1770. He was born into a family that had a strong musical background. His father tried to make Beethoven into the next Mozart. By age fourteen Beethoven could already play the piano, organ and violin and had received a professional appointment as an organist. As a child Beethoven was raised in an abusive family.
