Facts,theories, assumptions, paradigms are all perceptions of the mind. Each one of us thinks that we see things as they are, but we see them not as they are, but as we are. So facts can never be stubborn or unwieldy for those who know how to interpret things for good. Facts can be intimidating if a person does not know how to interpret "a minus into a plus".
