The English writing course ENS1441, at Santa Fe Community College, is a class where students are taught to learn the mechanics of writing a perfect essay. This course mainly affects international students, since at their home school they were not taught the standards of structure in an essay. ESL students struggle in several different ways in order to pass this course. Should this course be required for international students? Many people believe in the fact that everybody is equal and no ESL student deserves any special treatment but, there is a limit. Any normal US student, who was taught to write at a young age, did not have very much trouble and it became easier for him or her to write at college level standards. This case is not present for international students.
