International Designer - Henry Ford Henry Ford Born July 30 1863 - Died April 7 1947 Patent Number(s) 1,005,186 Automotive engineer Henry Ford held many patents on automotive mechanisms. He is best remembered, for helping design the factory approach to production that revolutionised the automobile industry by greatly reducing the time required to assemble a car. Born in Wayne County, Michigan, Ford showed an early interest in mechanics, constructing his first steam engine at the age of 15. As a young boy, he took apart everything he got his hands on. He quickly became known around the neighborhood for fixing people's watches. In 1896, Ford invented the Quadricycle. It was the first "horseless carriage" that he actually built. It's a far cry from today's cars and even from what he produced a few years later, but in a way it's the starting point of Ford's career as a businessman.
