Safety on the Roads Many lives throughout the world have been changed due to drunk driving. Driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol continues to be an important public health problem ( Maskalyk ). Until drunk drivers start to realize their judgement on driving under the influence are wrong, many people will continue to be badly injured or even killed. Drunk driving is considered a serious crime in every state. It is wrong irresponsible, and wastes many lives. People who abuse alcohol hurt everyone around them, endanger public safety, and create many problems on the highways. From 1996-1999, most alcohol impaired drivers killed in crashes were males ( 84% ) and persons under the age of 45 ( 88% ). Among all alcohol-related crashes, most were likely to occur at nights, on weekends, and in urban areas ( Nebraska…1 ).
