if the main theme of Macbeth is ambition, I think Macbeth・s ambition is the driving force of the play. There is no doubt that the main theme of the play is ambition. In Macbeth, Shakespeare is trying to tell us that ambition can control and corrupt a person. For instance, the two main characters, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are driven by their ：thriftless ambition； to the evil deed, the murder of Duncan, which leads to their final downfall and dishonorable death. And I think it is Macbeth・s ambition, rather than his wife・s, that propels the plot of the play.
