An operating definition of “organizational behavior”. The term organizational behavior on a basic level relates to the study of employee behavior within a company measuring the results that individuals, groups and structure have on the overall business success. The working environment today is an ever changing and evolving landscape, where products and the processes that build them must be constantly evaluated to ensure the highest level of productivity. Managers must learn to develop their OB skills in order to succeed and become truly effective. Typical management roles have been centered around decision making and the transferring of information. However, as business’ have developed and workers have become more interactive in the running of the business, managers need to ensure that other more OB centric variables are monitored, such as: productivity, absenteeism, turnover, job satisfaction and organizational citizenship.
