Film Reviewing The first film Once were warriors is about a lower-class Maori family who inundated by domestic violence. It is a film set in a poor suburb of Auckland (New Zealand), where a couple are trying to raise their four children in a small housing trust home. Temuera Morrison plays character Jake Heke who was once a warrior, part of a Maori cultural tradition, although he still possesses that fierce and intimidating look. After leaving his job at a fish market, which paid little more than unemployment payments, he began to destroy the life of his family. Jake whose temper is very short at the best of times becomes uncontrollable when drinking and partying in the family home with friends, which becomes routine while unemployed.
