North Korea as a survivor
North Korea, the Victim and a Survivor As the world is blinded with the slanders and misrepresentation by the media, North Korea is branded by George W. Bush as an axis of evil. The struggles and sufferings that the North Koreans endure for their goal of unification of one Korea are often overlooked. Their failures are reflected upon their government which does not have any intentions of being a part of axis of evil. North Korea can be seen as a country of struggle and victimization of their own beliefs. Although they have faced numerous brinks of collapse, it withstood failure through gradual reforms in its economic policies and outside cultural acceptance. After years of Japanese Imperial dominance and the Korean War, the people of North Korea followed their national hero, Kim Il Sung, into accepting the communistic form of government. Combined with the Korean¡¯s Confucian values, this ¡°corporatism¡± described in the Harrison¡¯s novel believed that their country could rise above based on self-reliance or ¡°ju-che¡±.
