Documentary: Introduction with music by Gary Glitter called Rock and Roll, which is the Counties-Manukau theme song. ( provided on cassette ). Every week the Counties-Manukau Steelers ran out onto the field to this music, and they still do today. The crowd went wild and it psyched the players up for the big match they were about to play. But does this song have the same effect today? Are the crowds as big as they used to be? Quite frankly, no! Ever since the relegation to the second division of the NPC in 2002, no more than 2000 spectators would turn up for a home game. In fact, the last home game at Pukekohe Stadium, which happened to be a semi-final, only 1824 tickets were sold. However, Counties-Manukau has been far from poor in the past. Way back in1979, 1981 and the following year in 1982, Counties were victors in the National Provincial Cup with All-time greats such as Bruce Robertson and Andy Dalton. From 1994 to 1998, they finished fifth or higher ( out of 10-12 teams ).
