Sauternes Specific Purpose: To impart information about Sauternes and to educate people about what Sauternes are, where they come from, and their significance in the family of wine. Central Idea: When most people think about studying wine they don’t really think about expanding their palettes to appreciate sweeter wines, such as Sauternes. Introduction: I. Thesis statement: When most people think about studying wine they don’t really think about expanding their palettes to appreciate sweeter wines, such as Sauternes. II. Establish credibility: I’ve been learning about fine wines most of my life but for the most part I’ve stuck to studying the reds. In the past three years I’ve been expanding my emphasis to the sweeter wines. I mean, in the past, I would normally drink a nice Champagne or a Port with dessert because it was really all that I knew at the time. When an old friend introduced me to some of the greatest Sauternes in the world, I decided that I wanted to know all that I could about them. III. Attention -arousing: In all honesty, Sauternes could be the most unknown, yet, most delicious wines that exist.
