Everybody loves something for free. Now days whenever you hear a new song that you “have to have” there is no longer any need to rush to the nearest record store to purchase the entire CD for one song that you want. For the most part you don’t even have to leave your home; you can have that song in a short amount of time by getting on the Internet and downloading it off Napster for free. In the last year music sales have not been affected as much as the music industry claims it has. There was a 5% decrease in record sales, but research shows that it has more to do with the economy doing poorly than file sharing. According to a survey done by Forrester Research Report (available on the www.usatoday.com website) the users that most frequently download free music on a regular bases make up 36% of all music sales.
