When the three little freshmen walked aimlessly into F-8 with an expression of confusion on their faces, they had no idea what was in store for them. Little did they know what they were going to be doing for the next three days nor did they know who they would be spending those three days with. As they meandered to the corner and sat in the desks that we had already arranged in a circle for them, they looked young, naïve and clueless of what the world is about. The three freshmen in front of us kind of reminded us four seniors of what we were like when we were younger. The first lesson started out by sharing each other’s names and what middle schools we all went to so we can all connect on something in common. We found out that their names were Linda, Karla, and Ippei. At first, they were all shy and taciturn. We don’t blame them because we know it is intimidating for three freshmen to be surrounded by four big seniors. But as we talked more and told them some jokes to loosen them up, they started to smile and talked a little more. This is good response because we know that we are doing something right. Our first impressions of Linda, Karla, and Ippei were that they were really good kids and they put an effort into learning something new.
