Gods and Generals The first battle of Gods and Generals was Manassas. This battle took place on 2 hills. The confederate army was on Henry House Hill. The Union army was placed on Matthew Hill. The confederate army had massive numbers and was in it for themselves. The Union army had very heavy artillery fire upon the confederate army. The confederates took the field and charged in but the union’s artillery fire kept them at bay. At the end the confederates suffered 111 dead and 373 wounded or missing.
