“The Bean Trees” Book Review In my opinion Barbara Kingsolver’s novel “The Bean Trees” is a story about the idea that a person’s life can go through regeneration. Each character in the story has lost something important to them and the idea that through their relationships with one another they can regenerate the missing parts of their lives is a theme of this story. Turtle, who is arguably the main character, has lost perhaps the most in the beginning of the story. This child has been robbed of her innocence, childhood, family and her future. The people she is surrounded by in this story, beginning with Taylor, provide a caring setting for her to be able to grow in, both physically and mentally.
