Regular Tessellating Shapes A tessellation is a shape that fits together with out overlapping or any gaps. There are not many regular shapes that can make a tessellating pattern in fact there are only about four, a way to find out is to choose a regular shape for instance square: there are 180degrees in a square so that means each interior angle must equal 90degrees, in a tessellating pattern the squares join together and form some vertices if you add all the interior angles it will equal 360degrees this applies in all regular tessellating shapes.
