METHOD OF STUDY In this particular study, the researchers utilized the descriptive method by means of survey, since the present study was designed to find the effects of frequent and long exposure of playing video games to the academic performance of the grade six male students of St. Mary’s College of Quezon City school year 1999 – 2000. SUBJECTS The researchers were able to get the subjects by using the non-probability sampling technique. The researchers gave out the questionnaire to the one hundred and fifty grade six male students of Saint Mary’s College of Quezon City school year 1999 – 2000, who only studied there since they were in the preparatory level. The subjects were trimmed down to thirty five, which the questionnaire identified them as the frequent video game players and the final subjects for the study. DESCRIPTION OF INSTRUMENTS The instruments the researchers used to gather information in this present study were questionnaires, designed by the researchers to achieve the objective of the study and the student’s GPA (Grade Point Average). 1.) Questionnaire for the students – the questionnaire that was used in this study was self-made and was validated by three faculty members.
