Behavior and Processes Derrick Deberry Gail Holloway Brian Myles Esteban Reyna Sharon Sims Jacqueline Watson MGT 331 Ms. Wendy Johnson August 20, 2003 Word Count No. 1,959 ABSTRACT The purpose of this assignment is to show how each member of our Learning Team, perceives various aspects of coming together as a team. In the broad aspect of this paper, we will be looking at behavior, and the different processes of compiling a team assignment. We will be going into great detail on the different roles and responsibilities, decision-making strategies, time management skills, and conflict resolution plans. Each of the learning team members will be looking at different issues within our team, and will explain how their perceptions will benefit or harm the team as a whole. Behavior and Processes For this assignment, it has been requested of our learning team to construct a paper that addresses the various behavior and processes of all the members of our team. The paper will cover not only, roles and responsibilities, but will go into great detail on how the team comes together and uses various aspects and strengths of our members. We will also be discussing peaks and valley performance and times, assertiveness, setting realistic time limits, and prioritizing responsibilities and tasks to create a well written and organized paper. First, to look at behavior, we are expected to be professional with not only our team members, but to all within the learning center. Also, our behavioral patterns and thought processes are being led down a path that should change our overall view to “us and we”, instead of me, my and I. When you speak of our processes our “roles and responsibilities” are extremely important; they basically consist of each learning team member knowing exactly which part of a particular assignment belongs to them. Using our team as an example: There are six learning team members on our team and the body of the paper is broken up into four basic parts, four team members will take a point, and write their portion of the assignment. Additionally, while each team member is writing their portion of the paper, they must also remember the BIG picture of the entire paper. However, there are two team members left with no specific point to write on, but they will be responsible for doing the Abstract, Introduction and Conclusion with references, and the other remaining work on the paper including compiling everyone’s part and make it one complete paper. When the team members are given an assignment, the members should take responsibility to complete his/her portion of the assignment in a timely manner, so the member, who compiles the paper, has time to do so, and to send it to all the other members, to proof and approve. Due to problems out of our control, time management has not been one of our strongest attribute. However, we have learned to constructively arrange our time and produce quality assignments.
