Stricter gun control laws could save lives because they could lower the amount of violence, lower the death rate, and get guns out of peoples hands that should not have them. Too many people today carry guns around in their everyday lives. “According to recent statistics, there are more than 200 million guns in the nation, nearly one weapon for every man, woman, and child.”(Newton 46) The dictionary defines law as “a rule of conduct or procedure established by custom, agreement, or authority.” The keywords in the definition are “a rule of conduct or procedure.” With stricter gun control laws people would have to follow a longer strict procedure to get a gun, and this would get rid of a lot of the guns on the street.
