Digital audio, speech recognition, cable modems, radar, high-definition television, medical electronics, instrumentation and measurement, industrial motor control -these are but a few of the applications relying on digital signal processing (DSP) and very large scale integration (VLSI). VLSI is the technology, which has the power of integrating millions of transistors on single silicon chip. VLSI families i.e. PLDs, FPGAs, ASICs along with electronic design automation tools have improved the VLSI technology.
