Daniel arap Moi was born on September 2, 1924 in the Sacho location of the Baringo District in the North Rift Valley Province. He attended Africa Inland Mission School, Kabartonjo and then at the American Inland Mission School and the Government African School at Kapsabet. In 1945, he joined the Teacher Training College in Kapsabet to pursue a career in Teaching. By 1950, he had risen to the rank of Assistant Principal at Tambach Teacher Training College, Kapsabet.
