When Maya made the statement about young black girls being aware of their displacement as the rust on a blade that threatens the throat. She is telling everyone that this is causing unnecessary trauma to one who is already suffering, “kicking someone while they are down” is a popular phrase. I relate to this metaphor in many different ways, in a fairly recent event I broke my nose and got a concussion a week after I had just healed from a major surgery on my arm, then moving to a more personally level, all this happened the same month my girlfriend of almost three years decides we should back off for awhile and that she stills wants me just not right now.
