Just an added bonus to reproduction. It's used as a defense mechanism I suppose, to protect the ones we love... if we love someone, aren't we capable of also giving our lives for them? To defend them from dangers at any cost? So we fall in love, have a family, and our love for them is what keeps us together, is why we raise our children, secure a future for them, and at the same time, secure a future for the species. "Kids are our future?," Thought it was joke?, it's true. Love eventually fades, it's not eternal, once it has served its purpose, there is no longer a need for it. You see old couples still together and you think it's a sweet thing, but it's no longer love, it's the feeling of not wanting to be lonely, that's what keeps them together. Love also warps our logic, it can make people commit irrational actions, then again, it's not so overpowering over our intellect. Think with your mind?...
