Taming of the Shrew Marriage In the book Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare, we see marriage as being a bargain kind of thing. Shakespeare creates a marriage where the husband is making money for the sake of wedding a daughter. This would never happen nowadays, the marriage relationships aren’t just taken for granted. Now when you get married, you are vowing to spend the rest of your life with another person because you are in love. Not for money. The play focuses on how marriage affects not just the lovers themselves, but also their parents, their servants, and their friends. You can see this in Petruccio and Kate’s relationship. The reason they got married was because their father was unhappy with how his daughter was, and because Bianca would have never been able to go on further with love or relationships unless her elder sister was married.
