Call Me Shane
“He was the man who rode into our little valley out of the heart of the great glowing west, and when his work was done, rode back whence he had come and he was Shane.” (book) This quotation is from the novel Shane by Jack Schaefer, written in 1949. It continues to be a classic piece of American literature, capturing the western style and setting. Shane, the title character, is a mixture of manners and manliness. Shane is chivalrous, mysterious, and loyal. The character, Shane, is likeable and respected. He makes life in the west seem attractive. During his stay, Shane showed qualities of bravery, honor, and protectiveness for the Starrett family. He acted in many chivalrous ways, which is why everyone respected and loved Shane. “Bartender, do you have any soda pop?” Shane asks on behalf of Joey, to spare him any trouble at all.
