It continues to be a classic piece of American literature, capturing the western style and setting. Shane, the title character, is a mixture of manners and manliness. Shane is chivalrous, mysterious, and loyal. The character, Shane, is likeable and respected. He makes life in the west seem attractive. During his stay, Shane showed qualities of bravery, honor, and protectiveness for the Starrett family. He acted in many chivalrous ways, which is why everyone respected and loved Shane. “Bartender, do you have any soda pop?” Shane asks on behalf of Joey, to spare him any trouble at all.
