Often people joke about being addicted to the Net, but most people do notrealize that there are people out there who are essentially slaves to their computers. Internet addiction is a disorder that affects millions of Internet users throughout the world. It is an addiction that causes them to miss work or school, spend hours and hours at a time online, and in turn it ends up affecting their own offline worlds. These impacts encompass social lives, marriages and significant other relationships, family dynamics, work life, health, and the users' lives in general. It is conceived of as a compulsive behavior or need-fulfillment. The Internet also seems to invite both genders to experiment in ways they might otherwise not.
