DAs Epic
I have seen the sands of the desert, And the rolling black plains of the night. The stars in their glory unchallenged, As they gleamed with an ungodly light. I have walked the infinite pathways, And have trod on unholy ground. I have learnt of horrors unfolding, Nameless voices that curse without sound. I remember man and his temples, Altars to now dead gods in respite. The sands tell the secrets of aeons, And hide unknown mysteries from sight. Herein lie the accounts of the Darkangel and his exploits in the land of the living obtained by the Necromancer Rezthar al’Kariff in the year 491 A.C. who by the power of al-Lah conversed with the celestial and demoniac beings that he may know. May al-Lah punish those who would add or take away from the truths written here. Imad I once was, Nameless now I am, Speak not my name for it has been erased from The Book of Life… High-Templar of the 7th Legion of the Lord of Worlds. Honor and Glory. I fought against those who opposed the Heavenly Mandate. Cursed be this corporeal body and the weakness to which it is prone. For once when on an errand in the land of Adam’s kin Hunting the demon spawn it was then that I met that Daughter of Eve. Forbidden was our love, Abomination our child. Brought before the Conclave, Sinful I stood in God’s presence. Condemned to confinement, cast away for 10,000 years. Locked away from my beloved, Death her destiny. Imprisoned I lost all will, one hope drove me to endure. Our progeny imbued with my immortal blood would live. Vainly I grasped to the dream that my eyes would see my son. Deep within the depths Tartarus, I had not spoken with another For 6,000 years. That is when the Earth was struck, Smote with such cataclysm, my cell though worlds away Rumbled and shook. Free I breathed and fled Loathe to return to that pit of pain. Stumbling in darkness, Phantasmagoric illusions Danced and glimmered, mirages of confusion. Scrambling I grabbed at all I saw, and touched nothing. Then it was that I glimpsed a creature. Foulest of the fiends, Distorted and twisted, But flesh it had, and joy I felt to touch what I thought an illusion. Gasping it breathed, “Follow me warrior if you wish to live” Away it skittered, I was forced to follow. Eternity seemed to greet me as I blindly traced the beast’s path How long we ran I do not know. First I tasted air and my lungs were filled once more With the fragrant free substance. Then I perceived light To halo my grotesque guide. Lunging into the world I felt grass as I laid and laughed madly. Brightness engulfed me. I felt the sun’s warmth once more. Perhaps it was my vestigial senses or the overwhelming light, But dully and slowly I realized an angelic presence. “You’re 4,000 years early Give or take a few hundred days. I have been sent by the Almighty, To ensure that the filthy demon scum And dark brethren stay where they belong.” “And I’m sure you’re going to obey That command to the letter as always, Won’t you, Azakiah!” “You may have been the better fighter once But now you are fallen, immortal in hell Mortal on Earth, your death will destroy Your ageless body, and send your soul Careening down, to your place.” “There is yet life in these limbs, And blood in this heart Cast aside by my Father, and cursed by my brothers.
