Needed Recognition
There are many people in the world today that deserve recognition for finding cures for different things, mend and women fighting on the front line at a time of war, and people donating money they have saved for years to help save a church. As Pete Hamill wrote in “news is a verb,” “There is seldom any attention paid to scientist, poets, educators, or Archaeologists, (192). There is a serious problem in the American culture due to the excessive attention the media devotes to the lives and opinions of celebrities, we forget who the real hero’s are in the world. Today’s stars are printed al over the magazines. Hamill wrote, “Any visit to the newsstand will illustrate the most wide spread phenomenon of the times: The Print Media are runny with the virus of celebrities (192).” It seems like no matter when you go look for some sort of print media all you see is famous actors/actresses, musicians, athletes, and models on the cover. Why should they be the only important people and be allowed to be on the cover of a magazine. There are people all over the world that deserve to be put on the front cover of a magazine. For example, in an article in the National Examiner, “ Man, 89, donates $75,000 to church in coins.
