“What does it mean to be American?” from my point of view has many different meanings. Many people can respond to this question with a different answer, the main reason for this is because every “American” comes from a different background, which makes America such a diverse nation. Being an immigrant makes it difficult to provide a true definition of an American. Immigration in America began 100's of year ago. The American culture started to develop its roots about 300 years ago, when the European people came over to the New World.
