The Old Testament and Gilgamesh The two books have several similarities, and yet at the same time have many discrepancies. The reader is confronted with a dilemma, as he or she has to choose either work in order to validate their choice. Genesis speaks of a God that loves, and at the same time shows Him as a God of Justice. Gilgamesh describes gods that are inconsiderate and not loving. Both books are ancient manuscripts, Gilgamesh being older than the Old Testament. The question is whether we honestly and intentionally view God as for, or against us.
