Jaimee Colley September 12, 2003 “Paphnutius” In Hrotsvitha’s “Paphnutius,” we begin our story when we are introduced to Paphnutius and Thias. Thias is a woman that we can refer to as a harlot. She brings great dismay into Paphnutius’ life. His dismay is brought by the fact that she is exchanging herself in the return of gifts from young men. Paphnutius is severely bothered by Thias so he decides to venture to her and try to get her to turn her life around. Thias meets Paphnutius but does not know she has. He disguised himself as a suitor for her and then he finally revealed his identity.
