Human beings are not used to change. It is difficult for them to adapt to accept the change quickly. When someone・s appearances change dramatically, it is not easy for others to believe it. In The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa transformed into a monstrous vermin. He works hard for the survival of his family, as well for the love from his family. However, like :The Huxley Satellite Dish; and the :there Will Come Soft Rains,; both stories focuses on how materialistic goods are more valuable than human beings. Gregor・s human spirit is dying for love from his family, but their materialistic values inevitably kill him. Gregor・s human spirit still struggles to seek love after the transformation. After Gregor・s metamorphosis his life changed dramatically. Mentally he is still concerned about his family, but he physically has no ability to do so. However, his family does not act any differently after his transformation. In :There Will Come Soft Rains; even though there are no humans left in the house, the house still operated without any purpose. Perhaps one might say that the Samsas are life machineries.
