I am a new student here at Chanel High School, and I thought I would take the time to tell you my thoughts and feelings about this new experience. I have attended public school my entire life, although my parents went through mostly private school, but both graduated from a public school. Although I believe public schools are a good experience, I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy. When I was unhappy with my situation, and my surroundings at my previous high school I took the initiative to get out, and that is exactly what I did. It’s hard to come into a new school so far into your high school career and expect to be accepted immediately. But I made sure to be nice and not shy and quiet, and tried my best to make new friends. Soon enough, I wasn’t to new anymore. People just welcomed me with open arms, into a happy, warm environment. I believe this is a result of the teachers, administrators, parents, and the students all doing their part to reach out.
